Steve Pappas: President,
Treasurer & Director
- Steve Pappas joined
Envirokare with more than 30 years of entrepreneurial, corporate
executive, real estate management and development experience,
most recently as managing general partner of SPL Associates (SPL)
based in Brooklyn, New York. SPL has acquired and manages numerous
large-scale residential and commercial real estate holdings in
New York. Pappas was the founder and president of Servco Leasing
Corp. from 1970 to 1980, during which time it became the largest
third-party leasing company for Xerox equipment.
Jonathan Edelstein:
Secretary & Director
- Jonathan Edelstein
has over twenty-five years experience in investment banking, finance
and mergers and acquisitions, in both senior management and board-level
positions. His responsibilities have included the acquisition,
restructuring and management of small and mid-sized companies,
major takeovers, dispositions, real estate development and financing.
Mr. Edelstein is a Senior Advisor to the WestSphere Group, a private
equity and fund manager focused in Latin America. Prior to his
association with WestSphere, he was in partnership with Merrill
Lynch Inter-Funding Inc. 1988 to 1993, where he was involved in
the acquisition and merger of a number of companies to create
Pacific Outlook, Inc., one of the largest sportswear groups in
the United States with gross annual revenues of over $125 million.
Leo G. Kapakos:
Director
- Leo Kapakos brings
an extensive banking industry background to Envirokare’s
board, including over fifteen years with Westdeutsche Landesbank
AG, NY, where he is currently Associate Director in the Credit
Department – Financial Institutions Group. During his tenure
at Westdeutsche Landesbank, Mr. Kapakos has been responsible for
providing various management services, with focus in the areas
of transaction risk analysis and credit analysis with respect
to a broad range of financial services products.
George Kazantzis:
Executive Vice President
- George Kazantzis joined
Envirokare in July 2002 assuming responsibility for corporate
development activities with particular emphasis on marketing,
corporate structuring, financing and business development. Mr.
Kazantzis has over 25 years of executive management and consulting
experience in marketing, corporate structuring, finance, mergers
and acquisitions. His marketing achievements include the creation
and launch of a successful license-merchandising program under
the Team Gear USA® brand, in conjunction with Time Warner
Sports Merchandising, World Cup USA and US Soccer Federation.
Subsequently, Mr. Kazantzis, in a joint venture in conjunction
with Merrill Lynch Inter-Funding Inc., facilitated a complex merger
and acquisition transaction involving several Southern California
clothing companies and brands to create Pacific Outlook, Inc.,
a major U.S. sportswear manufacturer. At Pacific Outlook he was
responsible for product licensing, trademarks and registrations,
in addition to handling sales and marketing both domestically
and internationally. Previously, he managed several successful
corporate restructurings, most recently as a managing director
of SLC Leasing Co. Ltd., working with Corporate Performance Advisors
Ltd., Thailand, where he oversaw the restructuring of an automotive
finance company with 42 offices and 400 employees.

Advisory Board
Dr. William
L. Mills:
- Brings to the Company's
Management Advisory Board an extensive background in
senior management and consulting for private and public entities.
- Dr. Mills is an environmental
engineering consultant providing management consulting services
to corporate and government clients, in the areas of Industrial
Hygiene, Bio- diversity and Ecology, Occupational Health and Safety
and Hazardous Waste Management and holds a Ph.D. in Environmental
Health Sciences and Engineering (University of Kansas in 1973).
- In addition to his
many professional accomplishments, from 1983-1989 he served as
Member of the President's Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ).
As a senior Member of that Council, he served under President
Ronald Reagan and briefly under President George Bush Sr. At the
CEQ, Dr. Mills managed a staff of eighteen economists and engineers
and was responsible for the successful completion of 28
major National projects.
- From 1983-1989, Dr.
Mills also provided consulting services to 41 companies and 14
foreign governments, supervising over 68 projects with aggregate
construction and project costs of $815 million.
- Prior to 1983, he
served as a corporate consultant to approximately 40 Fortune 500
corporations.
George Lois:
- The legendary George
Lois is arguably the most creative, prolific advertising communicator
of our time. He is renowned for dozens of marketing miracles that
triggered innovative and populist changes in American culture.
- He introduced and
popularized the Xerox culture, made a failing MTV a huge success
with his " I want my MTV " campaign, created a new marketing
category, gourmet frozen foods, with his name "Lean Cuisine",
and (by inventing yet another new marketing phenomenon) persuading
America to change their motor oil at JiffyLube stations.
- Mr. Lois made the
totally unknown Tommy Hilfiger immediately famous with just one
ad, and saved USA Today from extinction with his breakthrough
"singing" TV campaign.
- In 1994, almost overnight,
he changed the perception of ESPN from a "demolition derby"
sports channel to the number one sports network with his dynamic
"In Your Face" campaign.
- George Lois is the
only person inducted into The Art Directors Hall of Fame, The
Copywriters Hall of Fame and The American Institute of Graphic
Arts Hall of Fame.
- He is the author of
The Art of Advertising, which has been praised as the "bible
of mass communications"; George, Be Careful, an autobiography;
What's the Big Idea?, which is used as a textbook in college communications
courses all over the world; and Covering the '80s, which displays
his iconic Esquire covers during that decade.
